Thinking about Mutant Standard and my mh Show more
I think my horizons for Mutant Standard shrunk at some point thinking about how you can't do Private Use Area encodings without a bunch of UX and accessibility headaches, but talented people who know programming better than me have managed to do quite well on shortcodes and me simply writing all of the text descriptions and making them available.
Also like, my mental health has been a trashfire for a long time owing to bad circumstances out of my control, and the more attention the project got (and therefore me), the more anxious and unsafe I felt. And I've experienced a shitload of impostor syndrome and feeling like people have complimented me for it *too* much or something, that it's not good enough. I now understand why these things are the case, and I can try to evaluate this project from a much more realistic lens, even if I have to calm down first before doing so.
I'm also really fucking glad I have meds right now tbh and have referrals to mh professionals and stuff x.x.

@dzuk I think it's a really good idea to have cross platform emoji shortcodes, but I think encoding it as Unicode codepoints isn't. The fact that Emoji are in Unicode at all is part of the reason people dislike the Unicode consortium. On the one hand we have minority languages and endangered languages whose proposals for inclusion in Unicode are ignored while the Unicode Consortium spends their time worrying about how to add taco pictures to text. 1/

@dzuk Plus a lot of the Private Use Area does end being used unofficially for these minority languages that don't get included. I think the Unicode Consortium is full of people who should be nowhere near text encoding, but the fact that Unicode is a unified standard is its only benefit and the whole point of it existing, so messing with that is just going to create headaches for everybody. 2/
