I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Mastdon, is in fact, The Fediverse or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, Just the fucking Fediverse. The Fediverse is not an software package unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning federated system made useful by mastdon, Pleroma and GNU social components comprising a full Federated Network as defined by Wikipedia. Many computer users run a modified version of the Federated system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of Federation which is widely used today is often called “mastodon", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the Fediverse, developed by the Sky Daddies. There really is a Mastdon, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the Network system they use. Mastdon is the server software: The software is an essential part of an network, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete Federated Network. Mastdon is normally used in combination with the With the Fediverse. the whole system is basically Fedi with mastdon added, or Just the fucking Fediverse. All the so-called mastdon websites are really just part of the fediverse.
